The Drawmer DL241 Dual Auto Compressor represents a new generation of dynamic processors that set new standards for sonic performance. Its intelligent combination of features, metering, and control functions make it an exceptional choice for broadcast, sound reinforcement, and recording applications.
The DL241 includes advanced automatic functions that allow engineers to achieve optimal results quickly, without compromising flexibility. The design delivers a smooth, transparent, and characterful analogue sound.
Drawmer's unique Programmed Adaptive Expansion circuitry enables smooth and effective single-control operation, eliminating chatter around the threshold. Unlike conventional expanders, the Expansion Ratio, Hold, Attack, and Release automatically adapt to the dynamics of the incoming signal.
The Expander/Gate offers an 80dB range and a variable threshold from +20dB to -70dB, with an off position. Fast and Slow release modes are provided: Fast suits percussive instruments or tighter gating, while Slow is ideal for vocals and instruments with longer decays, or to smooth fade-outs. A single LED indicates gating action.
The Auto Attack/Release Compressor, with variable Threshold and Ratio, combines the smoothness of a soft knee design with the precision of a ratio control. Instead of abrupt compression at the threshold, the ratio increases gradually across a 10dB range, resulting in natural, musical compression.
Manual or automatic attack and release settings provide exceptional versatility. Auto mode is ideal for unpredictable or dynamically varied material such as complete mixes or expressive performances, while manual control enables both subtle dynamic shaping and more creative compression effects.
The DL241 features zero-response-time, zero-overshoot circuitry that provides absolute control over peak levels, adjustable from 0dB to +16dB above system level. When triggered, excessive peaks are instantly contained, preventing distortion and protecting connected equipment.
This instant response ensures complete protection from even the fastest transient spikes, making the DL241 equally at home in mastering, live sound, and system protection roles.
The DL241 comes with two different rear panel connections: either XLR or Jack I/O.
